Guyanese-born Imtiaz Mohamed hit a splendid 105 to inspire Leguan Warriors to a resounding eight-wicket win over Pegasus Storm last Sunday at Ashtonbee Park, Scarborough, Toronto.
It was another preliminary-round match in the 2022 Ontario Masters Softball Cricket Clubs over-40, 20-overs competition.
The right-handed Mohamed pummeled 13 sixes and four fours during his 50-ball exhibition.
Leguan Warriors reached 162-2 in the 14th over replying to Pegasus’ challenging 158-6 from the allotment of 20-overs.
Mohamed and the consistent Vishal Balram also posted up a rapid 132-run first-wicket stand. The right-handed Balram scored 33 as khem Singh snatched 2-13 from two overs.
When Pegasus batted, veteran batsman Jai Singh hit a top-score of 35 while Khem Singh (unrelated) also batted well to make 29. Abdool Azeez was the champion bowler for Leguan Warriors by claiming four wickets for 14 runs in his two-over stint. Faoud Mohamed assisted with 2-21 off three overs.
Leguan Warriors are now second on the points chart with 30 points from eight games. They chalked up five wins while Pegasus Storm is languing at number 5 with 24 points. Carr Tech Masters are sitting at the top on 36 points having picked up six victories, with one defeat and a no-result fixture.
