Kaieteur News – The Ministry of Public Works is expected to execute a project that would result in enhancement works being done on both Carmichael and Waterloo Streets avenues.
The project which recently opened at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office is estimated to cost $122,488,725. For this project, seven contractors have applied to execute the works.
During the presentation of this year’s budget, it was noted that some $3.3 billion was put aside to finance improvement and enhancement of the aesthetics of the environment across major urban areas in the country, with a particular focus on the capital city.
Already, the ministry has rolled out a number of enhancement projects in and around the city.
Also opened at NPTAB, GuySuCo is looking to rehabilitate roads and bridges in Albion. These projects, according to its engineer are estimated to cost $426 million.

Ministry of Public Works
Enhancement of avenues in Georgetown, Carmichael and Waterloo.
Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport
Construction of asphalt walkway, Diamond/Grove Playfield, East Bank Demerara.
Construction of asphalt walkway, Ogle Community Centre.
Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo)
Rehabilitation of Albion roads and bridges.
Extension of Sugar Storage bond at Blairmont Estate (Phase 2).
Supply and delivery of agricultural machinery, Lots 1 to 5.
Office of the Prime Minister
Changing of windows to main building.
Repairs to Accounts Department office space, internal ceiling & flooring.
Repairs to Main Building Roof.
Extension of Internal Office Space – SBB.
Guyana Defence Force
Repairs to inboard engine workshop- Coast Guard headquarters, Ruimveldt.
National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI)
Installation of 160m rubble mound groyne along the foreshore of Perth.
