Kaieteur News – Former Guyana youth player Dillon Heyliger hit an electrifying 147 to fire VP Boys to a resounding 171-run win over Apollo at Glen Forest Public School ground, Mississauga, Toronto in the continuation of the 2022 Canadian Premier Softball Cricket League Regular Season 20-overs competition last Sunday.
The right-handed Heyliger struck 12 sixes and nine fours as his team raced to a gigantic 303-3 from the 20-overs, while Apollo was left faced-down at 132-7 when the 20-overs ran out.
Heyliger, who has been representing Canada at the highest level also over the years, got support from another Canada-based Guyanese Amit Rukhram who hammered an authoritative, unbeaten 98. Rakesh Gobardhan also chipped in with 20 as Kyhman Sohai snapped two wickets for 54 runs from four overs.
In Apollo’s innings, Imtiaz Hosein displayed fighting spirit with 87. Shamsudeen, a Guyanese-born and who also represented Canada, returned with the ball to snatch 3-16 from four tidy overs. Nigel Persaud was also successful by claiming 2-28 from his maximum four overs as well.
The competition continues today with a series of matches across the Greater Toronto Area.
