Dear Editor,
In any super-hero story, a super-hero acquires superhuman powers above the normal person, however, there is always a wise person reminding the super-hero that great powers come with great responsibility. Our parliamentarians were given powers by the ordinary citizens via elections to work in the best interest of the citizens, but so far, they have done a dismal job as they fail to fulfill their responsibilities which was to manage Guyana’s oil and other resources to uplift and enhance the standard of living of all Guyanese, especially the poor.
In life, no matter how evil a person is, they try to seek redemption and atone for their sins before their time is up in this life as they want to make peace with god before they die, especially those who have a long life, those who die young may have not even have time to think about redemption, this usually happens at the late stages in life. God do not redeem anyone’s sins, yet God is merciful, God gives sinners a chance to redeem themselves and they must take that chance to do just that.
So, parliamentarians you thought you could go ahead and sign contracts in secret with foreigners who rob Guyana while you get your kickbacks as Guyana is being sold out? But you didn’t count on a thorn or pimpla known as Glenn Lall who exposes your sins. Parliamentarians how do you look in the mirror? Look at your families and friends and those who voted for you, especially the poor whom you have failed by staying silent and not fighting for Guyana’s fair share of its God given oil and other resources. How can you watch as ordinary Guyanese struggle in their daily lives to painfully make a living just to survive? Have you no conscience, no shame, no human decency? Don’t you have any feelings? Are you cyborgs or robots?
When you parliamentarians go to church, mosques, temples, etc. and pray to God in whatever way, what do you tell God in that sacred moment? However, parliamentarians, with all your mistakes and sins, there is still a chance to redeem yourselves for Guyana before you get to God, you should take that chance.
Mr. Vice President, head of the oil sector, you are a respected man in Guyana’s politics, you are the current VP and the former President of this country, yet why are you stooping so low for these oil companies? Have you no self-respect?
The American envoy said Guyana should clamp down on corruption yet they didn’t mention the oil companies’ corruption and sins, that should have been a hint or threat to you, the exploiters want to look good at your expense, make you the bad guy and them the good guys, can’t you see this Mr. VP? The oil business will be going on for decades Mr. VP, how long can you live like this misleading the Guyanese people? You are making stupid statements like “the oil money is not fungable”, “Guyana got assurance instead of insurance” and “if you give people the oil money there will be inflation”, there is already inflation without Guyanese getting any oil money. Mr. VP you are fighting lawsuits filed by Glenn Lall with Guyanese lawyers, this the oil companies will put on record as the Guyana Government fighting Guyanese but not the oil companies, so when they go to other countries they are indemnified, Mr. VP, remove your lawyers from these lawsuits, let the oil companies put up their own lawyers so the optics would be, it’s the oil companies vs the people of Guyana, let it be bad optics for them not you, there are more lawsuits filed against the oil companies including the citizens on the East Bank Demerara filing lawsuits against the Houston shore base, are you going to fight all these lawsuits Mr. VP? If you do then there is something wrong with you, the oil companies are boasting on oil projects that have not been approved as yet, do they own you Mr. VP? You once stated oil companies will not take advantage of Guyana, so you don’t even have respect for your own words? However, with all the wrongs you have done, there is still a chance for you to redeem yourself.
Mr. President, you were elected to undo the wrongs of the previous administration, but you have reduced yourself to a puppet by stooping to the oil companies, even the people of Leonora, WCD, where you’re from, don’t have confidence in you anymore. Aren’t you ashamed to embarrass yourself and Guyana as well? All you can do is shout down at Guyanese who question you on oil and oil blocks, yet there is still a chance for you to redeem yourself.
So, Mr. President, V.P, P.M, Opposition Leaders and other parliamentarians, the way you REDEEM yourselves starts with calling for an emergency meeting and address the current oil programme and make the necessary changes for Guyana’s fair share, invite the likes of Melinda Janki, Janet Bulkan, Christopher Ram, Vincent Adams and other interested parties who want to fight for Guyana’s rights and come up with a game plan to tackle the issues. An emergency meeting is warranted at this time as Guyana’s oil will now be part of World Geopolitics.
Parliamentarians the oil companies are using you all like chewing gum, when the sweet is done they spit you out, why are you accepting this using? As long as you serve them, they will leave you alone, when the oil is done, they will charge you for corruption and take all back what they gave you, no gambler wins from a mafia casino, even if you win, they come in the night with guns and take back the winnings, they will take the oil revenues, the royalty, the taxes, etc. The oil companies are looking down on you all as backward. Why are you accepting this degradation of yourselves?
The oil companies are sponsoring sports tournaments looking like the good guys, with our fair share we can sponsor tournaments putting up more than they are putting, they are using our own wealth against us, why are you parliamentarians condoning this? In the future if anything goes wrong in Guyana, the oil companies will say it’s the Guyana Government mismanagement to blame, not them, how can you be allowing this?.
Parliamentarians you can fight back with being the home team, the oil companies have invested lots of money in one basket called Guyana, you now have them where you want them, seize the opportunity to re-negotiate, if they are large and you can’t fight like elephants then fight like piranhas biting little pieces every day. John Hess said Guyana is a democratic country, since the majority of Guyanese wants renegotiation, then re-negotiate as democracy means majority, use their own words against them. Use the strength of the oil companies, which include bribing government officials against them, bribing elected officials is a crime, charge them even if you have to go as high as Darren Woods, John Hess and Xia Qinglong (CNOOC), let them get a taste of Guyana’s Justice System since they like Guyana so much.
So, parliamentarians take the fight on, there will be risks, but remember Guyanese who work in your name to move this country daily, take risks all the time, driving on bad roads, working in unsafe conditions, business people risk being robbed etc., but they still battle on to make a living, show them you can fight like them.
Carl Greenidge said he had nothing to do with the oil contract, Winston Jordan is now coming out criticising the oil contract, these men have already started their path to redemption. Those of you who are trying to shut Kaieteur News down, desist from doing so, KN is our voice, beware of God’s wrath on those who silence the voices that speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, you need redemption now, lay off KN.
Parliamentarians this fight has now gone beyond fair share, this is now a battle of Good over Evil for the soul of Guyana, staying silent or being neutral is no longer an option, you must take a stand now when it matters, not apologising later on when it’s meaningless. Those who take the righteous path, God will walk with them, if you take the fight to the oil companies and they come after you, I will stand up for you, so too will Glenn Lall, I have confidence in his integrity, as well other Guyanese will support you.
Parliamentarians you will be there for a long time to come either as ruling party or opposition, you’re the last line of defense, stop torturing the Guyanese people with the current nonsense. REDEEM yourselves take the fight to the oil companies, fight for Guyana, yourselves, your families, your friends and all Guyanese, the prize waiting for you is enormous, you will get your redemption, you will live and leave with your grace and dignity intact plus the hundreds of billions of US dollars. Remember if you do nothing, you will face the wrath of fed up citizens, like the corrupt leaders of Sri Lanka.
