GCB U-19 2-Day Inter-County cricket
Kaieteur News – Consistent rain forced officials to call off the second day of the GCB’s second round under-19 two-day Inter-County cricket match at the LBI ground yesterday.
At the end of the first day Essequibo were struggling on 26-6 in their second innings after making 70 in their first innings after Demerara, who took first innings points after being dismissed for 96 as 26 wickets fell on the opening day.
The tournament is being contested on a bowler-friendly pitch and a heavy sand based ground, especially to the Western side of the ground, making hitting fours hard work.
However, with the other grounds unavailable due to the rainy season, LBI, although far from ideal, was the only venue available.
The Guyana team is expected to depart these shores on August 7 for St Vincent where this year’s Regional U-19 three-day tournament will be held.
After a break today the next game is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. (Sean Devers)
