Guyana’s female under-19 cricket captain, Ashmini Munisar, is the latest recipient of cricket gears from Dereck Kallicharran and friends in the USA.
Kallicharran, who now lives in New York, got together with friends and packed a kit bag of gears for Munisar, the exciting prospect in female cricket in Guyana and the West Indies.
The other donors; Anita Kallicharran, Ken Sukwah, SatrohanMaistri, and Ricky Singh from Singh Sporting goods joined Kallicharran to give back to the game of cricket and the country of their birth with the 18-year old Guyana player being the latest to benefit.
The Rose Hall Canje Cricket Club player was elated to receive the kit bag comprising of one pair of batting pads, a thigh guard, a forearm guard, a pair of batting gloves, one helmet, one pair of boots and a Grade A bat.
Munisar, who recently lead the Guyana team in the West Indies Female Regional under-19 tournament in Trinidad and Tobago, was high in praises for the support,
“I wish to extend my profound gratitude and appreciation for this sponsorship. I thank everyone who contributed and I can guarantee them all that I will make full use of the gears,” the off-spinning all-rounder stated.
The right-arm spinner who also has experience at the senior Regional level plans to make immediate use of the gears as she promises to keep working hard and trying to improve her skills.
Kallicharran has 98 First Class wickets for Guyana, played League cricket in England and ODI for USA as a right hand batter and leg spinner and is still active in various leagues in the Big Apple at the age of 64 years old.
He is pleased to assist the next generation of cricketers in and out of Guyana who are willing to work hard.
