With thousands expected to journey to the Rising Sun Turf Club on Sunday 14th August 2022 for the 14th Running of the Guyana Cup horserace meet, the Jumbo Jet Horseracing Committee has turned on the style, ensuring that fans will be entertained to the max. Apart from the thunder on the track anticipated from the local and imported and racehorses down to visit that will keep pundits either at the edge of their seats, but more than likely on their feet, Jamaica’s number 1 dancehall artiste Skillibeng is set to get into the act.
Emwah Warmington, whose stage name is “Skillibeng” is the latest artiste representing the Parish of St. Thomas in Jamaica in dancehall. He has had several successful singles including “Pain & Emotion, Crocodile Teeth and Brik Pan Brik” that gave him international acclaim. He has gained a large following on social media especially Instagram with over 600,000 followers. During his rise to international stardom he appeared on the Vybz Kartel song “Bas Gyal” which was released in 2020.
The love he received by the hardcore dancehall audience has risen to a level that has got the attention of main stream acts to the likes of Drake and Nicki Minaj. His most recent performance at the Wireless Festival was widely appreciated by the thousands in attendance, which saw patrons singing his hits. As he continues his climb to main stream stardom he would have shared the stage with acts to the likes of J. Cole, Burna Boy, Cardi B & Lil baby.
At 24 years of age, his hits can be heard on all major radio stations worldwide making him a household name in Jamaica and further afield. After the record breaking ticket sales for his first performance in UK he has ranked as the most sought after dancehall artiste.
The Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee was able to secure a confirmed booking following his UK Tour. Skillibeng’s management has been very accommodating in making the transaction as smooth as possible. The Guyana Cup concert and after party is expected to commence at 6:00pm with the biggest cast of local artiste available paving the way for the for the Queen of Soca Nadia Batson, Tic Tok sensation Yung Brudda, Chutney Queen Savita Singh, Chutney prince Raymond Ramnarine and his full band. As the thousands grow anxious the King of dancehall with hit the stage with all his glory accompanied by fireworks and other huge surprises.
The venue layout will be redesigned to accommodate more internal parking, more standing space for the concert, larger bars, smooth access and exit of the venue and an international stage set-up from Berbice’s very own Crown Vibes. The event promoters are urging patrons to purchase advance tickets to ensure hassle free access.
The countdown has begun to the biggest Horse Racing Event in the Caribbean carded for Sunday 14th August at the Rising Sun turf Club. Over GUY$30,000,000 in cash and prizes are to be won, so this year the competition is expected to be stiff. Get there before noon to avoid the rush and remember indoor parking is available for over 500 cars.
