– Eight races scheduled for August 14 mega event
As anticipation heightens for Guyana Cup 2022 the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Committee has restructured the race programme to ensure a seamless day of racing at the Rising Sun Turf Club on August 14, 2022.
Raising the standard was paramount this year because of the international interest and the involvement of the corporate sector.
Over 100 horses are expected to compete with approximately 40 imported specifically for this event. With the rapid growth of Guyana’s economy and the involvement of new horse owners entering the racing arena the structure had to be overhauled to ensure maximum transparency and accountability.
There will be over GYD$30,000,000 in cash and prizes to be won so this year the competition is expected to be tough.
However, one of the most important Guyana Cup competing regulations for 2022 is that all Horses must be micro-chipped from a registered Veterinarian. Failure to comply will result in the horse being disqualified.
All horse owners are informed that that preparations are being made to accommodate the horses on the Saturday 13th August to ensure there is an effective vetting process and no delays in the race execution. All races are run under the rules of the JJTRC that follow certain guidelines of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
Chairman of the JJRC, Nasrudeen ‘Junior’ Mohamed indicated, “This year is going set the bench mark for future racing events. We have seen a lot of interest from the business community and even new horse owners. To make my our family dream a reality we all need to work together and maintain a high standard, from horse owners to jockeys and even the fans. The Rising Sun turf Club is being prepared with major earth works to ensure the event is an experience and not just another horse race. So don’t miss the biggest Horse Racing Event in the Caribbean.”
This event was made possible through the sponsorship of Banks DIH, Guinness, A&R Security, Vals Construction, Air services, Kings Jewelry World, K&P Project Management, JS Guyana, Aronco, BM Soat, Club Neutraal, AJM & Jumbo Jet.
