With over fifty years of experience in the aviation industry, Air Services Limited has an impeccable track record in safety, efficiency and reliability. ASL has been an avid supporter of many local charities and has now made it official that they are pledging support to the improvement of Horse Racing in Guyana.
The Horse Racing event, with a 14-year track record of success, was the brain child of a humble man from Bush Lot, Nasrudeen “Senior” Mohamed. Horse Racing is hailed “The Sport of Kings” and is viewed worldwide, generating billions through direct and online gambling. To execute an event on this scale is extremely costly and time consuming, especially after a two year pause due to the Covid19 pandemic. The challenges that warranted immediate attention was the terrain for parking, the track and the wood stands and rails. With the upgrades of more than fifty percent complete, the venue is expected to be completely transformed come race day.
Thus far, over 30 thoroughbred horses have been imported, with an additional 5 carded for importation by new Horse owners making the competition even more exciting. For years local stables have been clamoring at the doors of The Jumbo Jet Racing Committee for more international horses that will raise the bar for the races.
When contacted Captain Mazahar Ally indicated, “Our company has supported countless charity cases across Guyana and we are proud to support Guyana Cup. Who knows maybe next year ASL might enter the arena. Horse Racing has grown tremendously in Guyana and as a result more jobs will be created. With Guyana’s rapid growth more expats and foreigners are expected to attend these events therefore increasing foreign exchange and revenue from concessioners at the event. Also through social media the country’s talents with jockeys will be showcased. So of course we will support Guyana Cup 2022 one hundred percent this year.”
The countdown has begun to the biggest Horse Racing Event in the Caribbean carded for Sunday 14th August at the Rising Sun turf Club. Over $30,000,000 in cash and prizes are to be won so this year the competition is expected to be stiff.
According to the organising team, “Get there before noon to avoid the rush and remember indoor parking is available for over 500 cars. Let’s all join together for this spectacular presentation, Guyana Cup 2022!”
