Kaieteur News – Alvin Mohabir struck a half century, while Sasenarine Harricharan picked up four wickets to lead Demerara to a comfortable 113- run victory over Berbice when the Guyana Cricket Board Inter County U17 50-over competition continued on Tuesday at LBI.
Demerara opted to bat and lost the wickets of Jadon Campbell (04), Romeo Deonarain (02), Marvindra Dindyal (09) and Zachary Jodha (00) as Isai Thorne and Shiv Harripersaud did the damage with the ball leaving Demerara at 41-4.
However, Alvin Mohabir and Shiloh Adams staged a recovery with a fifth wicket stand of 87 before Mohabir was taken off Thorne for 58 which came off 100 balls and contained three fours.
Adams was caught and bowled by Sanjay Algoo for 29 which came off 129 balls, while Jonathan Van Lange made 26 before he was removed by Thorne. Harricharran chipped in with 10 as Demerara made 179 all out in 49 overs.
Thorne bagged 5-57 and Harripersaud 2-30. Berbice lost opener Romesh Bharat (04) and Rashaad Gaffur (00) early in the chase to be at 22-2 with Harricharran and Mohabir making inroads.
Rampertab Ramnauth struck two fours before he was bowled by Harricharran for a top score of 21 off 55 balls. Berbice never recovered and were bowled out for 66 in 31.2 overs. No other batsman managed double figures as Harricharran claimed 4-11 and Mohabir 2-7. Mohabir was named man of the match.
