Dear Editor,
Please allow me a space to highlight two issues affecting motorists living on the West Bank Demerara. The first issue is the deplorable state of the public road starting from La Grange going all the way to Patentia, which is in urgent need of repair. The road is littered with potholes (quickly becoming craters) and bumps. In order to avoid these holes, we are forced to drive in the other lane provided there is no oncoming traffic, otherwise we have to come to an almost stop in order to drive over the holes/bumps. The state of the road is especially deplorable at the junctions of Canal No. 1 (before and after the bridge), Bagotsville, Nismes (by the Gas station), Goed Intent, Sisters Village and Wales (just after the estate).
The second issue is lack of Street lights along some sections of the public road and due to the fact that at some sections there are no houses only farmlands, it is pitch-black at night. This makes it extremely difficult to drive at night especially when facing oncoming vehicles with the high beam/LED light that are blinding. We would appreciate if lights can be installed to aid motorists at night.
I sincerely hope my letter is read by the relevant authorities and immediate action taken.
Regards,
Davin Appanah
