Dear Editor,
The announcement that some of the oil blocks will be relinquished back to Guyana so it can be auctioned off and the country would get some cash, sounds like a victory to be celebrated, if so then good for Guyana.
We must know however, if it will a public (open) auction, or a private (closed) auction. An open auction will be public, very competitive and all information will be known, a private auction however will be done in secret and the details would be unknown as it will be protected by non-disclosure agreements. Whom it was sold to, for how much and other details would be unavailable. Watch out for this, as the leaders of this country are grandeurs in trickery and deception.
R. David
