Dear Editor,
Everyone has been crying out about cost of living just as everyone cried out about COVID-19. The thing is it’s an automatic thing to want to blame the Government for any and everything at this point even if it rains too much. However, we all learnt to live with COVID-19; as such, we should look at our own selves and re-evaluate some of the things we spend on.
The Government has done as much as they could to keep the country afloat amidst the Global surge of prices. It is up to you if you prefer to buy something that costs 10,000 Guyana Dollars versus 5000 Guyana Dollars.
As for gas prices, personally at this point instead of using two vehicles (fortunate to have 2) we use one. If you’re going to work car pool, and basically drive when it’s necessary.
Stop waiting on the Government to give handouts, they are already making strides where possible!
The Government led by H.E Dr.Ali has created part time jobs, assisting with construction of homes, free online programmes through the GOAL initiative, cash grants for fisherfolk and grants for those with disabilities.
Many things are happening in the country and we must live according to our means or else we will complain! What’s that saying, “cut your coat according to your cloth?”
