Members of the Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) recently met with acting Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken. The meeting was held in the Commissioner Conference Room, Eve Leary, Georgetown with the main purpose of maintaining collaboration between the GNRA and the Guyana Police Force (GPF).
Most of the executives of the GNRA were in attendance. Those in attendance included Honorary Secretary Ryan Sampson, Vice Presidents, Colonel (retired) Enoch Gaskin and Mahendra Persaud, Assistant Secretary/Treasurer Lennox Braithwaite, Full Bore Captain Dylan Fields and Small Bore Captain Gordon Richards. President of the GNRA Brigadier Patrick West was unavoidably absent.
The Honorary Secretary alluded to the GNRA’s Annual General Meeting which was held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, and elucidated that “we are constitutionally good at meeting all our requirements”.
The members also took the opportunity to offer congratulations to Hicken on his recent appointment as acting top cop and wished him well.
They also thanked the Top Cop for appointing Senior Superintendent, Ravindradat Budhram as the Police Ex-Officio Vice President.
It was noted that the GNRA and the GPF have had a good working relationship over the years, stating that it should only get better. Among issues discussed were the continued collaboration between the GPF and the GNRA, the upkeep of the police shooting range, the movement of firearms within the Association, and the invitation of the Police Force to future smallbore competitions.
