GFF & Blue Water Shipping U15 Girls’ League
Action in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) and Blue Water Shipping National U15 Development Girls League continued yesterday at GFF National Training Centre Providence with three matches.
East Ruimveldt Empress produced the biggest margin of victory for the day with a 7-0 drubbing of North Georgetown Pheasants. Dellana Small sent down a hat-trick, while Fayon Harry and Azoria Wilson both netted a double for the winners.
Campbellville United and Charlestown Super Strikers played out a 1-1 stalemate with the consistent Jocelyn Salimar scoring for Campbellville. She had scored in their opening game last weekend. Nelisa Bristol was the goal scorer for Charlestown.
In the final scheduled match of the day, Chase Determinators overcame Freeburg Falcons 2 goals to 1. Martha Chance scored both goals for Chase. Ester Berkley responded for Freeburg.
The Essequibo Coast/Pomeroon FA, Bartica FA and Berbice FA will kick off their legs of the tournament as soon as grounds are available as the prevailing rainy season has rendered the grounds unusable.
The GFF-Blue Water Girls’ U15 Development League, with the tagline “Empowering girls through football,” continues to give an unprecedented boost to participation in women’s football, with teams in each of the GFF’s nine regional associations and hundreds of players expected to sign up.
After the intra-association phase across Guyana, the GFF will host national play-offs and finals at the GFF National Training Centre to decide the winners of the inaugural 2022 title. The competition will provide the basis for talent identification and squad selection for the Concacaf U15 Girls’ Championship in August.
