Seven teams from Secondary Schools on the West Coast of Demerara participated in the Circle Tennis Tournament organized by the West Demerara Circle Tennis Association. The programme was implemented into 14 schools in the Region 3 area to encourage more sports extracurricular activities in schools in the area.
Mr. Allister Monroe from the National Sports Commission, responsible for Circle Tennis, supervised the training and executing of the sport in the schools.
In the tournament, the newly trained athletes from the school competed in an inter school competition where they received support from a crowd consisting of their peers and teachers from their respective schools. The tournament lasted for 2 days and was concluded Friday at the Uitvlugt Sports Ground, West Demerara.
ANSA McAL sponsored the event as their Corporate Social Responsibility. Mr. Ulric Charles the regional sports organizer of the region expressed heartfelt gratitude to ANSA McAL for their support as part of the corporate sector.

The Schools involved were: Essequibo Island Secondary School, Leguan Secondary School, Zeeburg Secondary School, Uitvlugt Secondary School, Vergenogen Secondary School, Parika Salem Secondary School and West Demerara Secondary School.
Leguan Secondary School emerged the winner of the event ahead of Parika Salem Secondary School and West Demerara Secondary School third.
