Here is the full text of his missive:
Dear Editor,
Please allow me the opportunity congratulate young Tevin Imlach on his consistent performance in national cricket and his recent selection to the West Indies President’s XI team. Imlach made a tremendous contribution to the performance of the Guyana senior team this year by registering three consecutive half centuries, 53, 79 and 76, and earned his selection to the WI President’s XI team to play against the touring Bangladesh side.
As a former President of the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), the club where Imlach honed his skills from a tender age, I had the honour of working with him and seeing him progress thru various stages of the game. The wicket-keeper/batsman represented DCC at the first and second division levels, and was part of the West Indies successful ICC Under-19 World Cup final against India in 2016. He also represented Guyana at the first class level and played List A matches for the West Indies B Team in 2018. He has been a feature amongst the runs recently for the Guyana team.
Editor, please also allow me the opportunity to congratulate left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie on his maiden test selection, and batsman Tagenarine Chanderpaul on his selection to the reserve list. I personally congratulate these youngsters, and wish to see greater success as they represent their team and country, and etch their names in the history of this glorious sport called cricket.
Yours in cricket,
Alfred Mentore.
