A keen contest is expected when the National Sports Commission Independence cycle road race takes place today on the Essequibo Coast.
The race will pedal off at 08:00hrs at Charity and proceed to Supenaam before returning to Anna Regina for the finish, covering a distance of approximately 63 miles.
Cyclists will compete in the senior, veteran over50, veteran under50, female and junior categories, and at stake are Cash prizes and trophies. Among the cyclists expected to participate are Paul De Nobrega, Christopher Griffith, Jamual John, Walter Grant Stuart, Kemwell Moses, Curtis Dey of Evolution cycle club of Berbice, Clavecia Spencer, Marica Dick, Denese Jeffrey and Susan Spencer.
Meanwhile, the GCF would like to express gratitude to the Government of Guyana, National Sports Commission, Director of Sports Steve Ninvalle, the respective divisional commanders of the Guyana Police Force, treasurer of the GCF Inge Peters, Joseph Britton, Terrence Hodge, other members of the GCF executive, Steve Ramsuchit and Onica Ramsuchit of Berbice, medic Cupedo among others who contributed towards the successful staging of last weekend three stage event.
They would also like to thank the Suriname contingent and noted that they are working closely with their neighbours for the development of the sport in both countries.
