Kaieteur News – The National Sport Commission (NSC) and the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports (MCYS) took a major step in its quest to promote Circle Tennis with the staging of a two days workshop last Friday at the New Diamond/Grove Primary School.
Organised by NSC Sports Officer Region 4, East Bank Demerara Owan Wills, the workshop attracted selected schools, both primary and secondary from East Bank. National Sports Commission, Ministry of Culture Youth & Sport Sports Officer A. Munroe facilitated the workshop.
In addressing the participants, Munroe signaled the beginning of a series of workshops to be held across Guyana in various districts leading up to a championship later in this year.
Munroe stated that this is the first clinic held in 2022 under the theme ‘Circle Tennis Our National Sport’ taking the Game to its Glory days.
The workshop covered all the areas of the sport (Circle Tennis) with much of the time spent on the rules, and during the practical session the participants were put in a game situation, while they had an opportunity to mark a circle.
Meanwhile, two another workshop will be held during the month of May which will involve groups and communities.
