Kaieteur News – A 20-year-old teacher was on Friday robbed by knife bandits who pulled up beside her in a car while she was walking towards her home located at Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
The woman Chrisann Alleyne, according to police, was attacked by the bandits around 12:45hrs. They reportedly stole her iPhone, laptop and gold chain along with a Samsung J2 cellular phone and $30,000 in cash.
Alleyne recalled walking along Greenman’s Street in Tuschen when a black heavily tinted car bearing licence plate PSS 3220 pulled up and stopped next to her.
A man armed with a knife reportedly stepped out of the passenger seat and attacked her. Alleyne said that after he stole the items from her, she followed him back to the car, begging him to return her belongings but he ignored, entered the car and it sped off.
Region Three police have since been successful in locating the car. Ranks had spotted it being driven by a 27-year-old man of Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD). They have since arrested him and impounded the car.
Investigations are ongoing.
