Dear Editor,
I wish to advise citizens concerned about Government and Governance to make sure members of their circle keep an eye on the weekly and special publications of the Official Gazette. In particular, there should be someone in the circle who reads the LEGAL SUPPLEMENT of the Official Gazette. In that section Bills to be debated in the National Assembly and to become laws, are published in advance. Executive Orders made under existing laws, by cabinet members and other officials are printed.
If everyone must learn to govern, then we all need to know what appears sometimes only in the Official Gazette. If as a citizen a person needs to know which minister is responsible for a particular ministry, department of state, or subject such as corporations or citizenship, that person should find the information in the legal supplement of the Official Gazette published at the time when ministers were first appointed and assigned responsibilities.
The Official Gazette contains much more than official information like Transports and Mortgages, Bank of Guyana notices, laws receiving presidential approval, and other reliable official information.
Regards,
Eusi Kwayana
