Kaieteur News – It is believed that the prime suspect in the alleged murder of Levoy Taljit, the former Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) employee, might be out of the jurisdiction and the possibility exists that the police will request assistance from International Police (Interpol) to locate him.
Taljit had mysteriously disappeared in December 2012 and nine years later police have finally gathered enough information leading them to believe that he was murdered at a location along the Linden/Soesdyke Highway between December 23 and 24, 2012.
Investigators have not been able to locate Taljit’s body but they have identified a prime suspect and issued a wanted bulletin for him last week. That individual is Ryvan Shervin Francis, 44, a Soesdyke man. The suspect was arrested before in connection with Taljit’s disappearance but police were unable to press charges because there was not enough evidence to link him to any wrongdoing.
Nevertheless, recent information and evidence obtained by police suggest that Francis could be the man that killed Taljit. Kaieteur News understands that he could be out of the country hiding from police. Sources close to the investigation revealed that police might be looking to ask Interpol for help in locating him.
Interpol is an International Criminal Police Organisation with 195 member countries. One of their goals is to assist police in all of its member countries to work together in making the world a safer place. One of the ways to make this possible is to share and access data on crimes and criminals. The sharing of data can assist in tracking down a fugitive hiding out in another country. In the meantime police is still relying on the public’s help and is asking anyone who knows about Francis’ whereabouts to contact police on telephone numbers, 216-0251, 216-0254, 444-3429, 225-6978, 225-816 or the nearest police station.
