The Winners Vreed-en-Hoop Secondary with teachers AL Sport & Tour Promotions Officials & Region 3 Sports Officer.
Kaieteur News – It came as no surprise that the seasoned team on the big stage, Vreed-en-Hoop Secondary, are the Region 3 School Girls champions. They defeated Leonora Secondary School in the final of the National Sports Commission /MCYS Janet Jagan Memorial Windball cricket competition at the National Gymnasium, recently.
Vreed-en-Hoop batted first after winning the toss and scored 104-1, with player of the finals Vasantie Kishore smashing 42 (5×6), Nicole Narine 24 and Denicia Singh 22.
Leonora were restricted to 74-2; Roslin Samaroo was run out for 44 (6×6) and Rosemund Harvey 12. Sheemiah Daniels had one wicket.
2019 second place team Zeeburg Secondary School, went on to capture the 3rd place, they beat L’ Aventure Secondary School.
Zeeburg batted first and rattled up 116-1. Sarah Bheir and Rashoda Khan were left not out on 44 and 40 respectively, while Shontay Lyte made 14.
L’ Aventure replied with 84-0. Akeela Lewis scored 60 (7×6) and Keiara Jack 20.
The organisers would like to thank the Regional Education Officer Region 3, the Headteachers, Teachers, Students all the Drivers who ensured the students got to the Gymnasium and returned safe, the Staff’s at the venue & the AL Sport & Tour Promotions Officials.
More than three hundred and thirty (330) students participated in this programme at the National Gymnasium along with 46 teachers were in attendance.
