Dear Editor,
Permit me a small fraction of this paper to air my concerns of some particular route 32 buses. On any given day, between 17:30hrs and 18:00hrs, parked at the Vreed-en-Hoop Stelling are all the top pit bull buses – lined off on the right side of the road between the stelling and the GPL office access road. These conductors or touts pick and choose their passengers especially females who are desperate to meet their destination. Now since COVID-19 restrictions have been relaxed, these same buses would take advantage and not only put four persons in a seat but five or even six (please note this kind of lawlessness happens when all the traffic ranks are off the road at this specific time). That is not all. After these buses pass the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station, the music would be turned up to the loudest until they meet another police station or a snap road block; some police even turn a blind eye to these regular buses. There was once a sting operation years ago against buses with music sets, and some bus men who I know personally reached to CNS 6 to air their hurt and concern.
Editor, this is totally unacceptable, people work hard and deserve to travel in comfort with moderate music. I do hope that the police, who are just a stone’s throw away, look into this.
