Kaieteur News – The Guyana Police Force on Tuesday reported that a 59-year-old female motorcyclist was killed by a speeding minibus.
Dead is Debra Salikram of 85, West Ruimveldt Estate Housing Scheme, Georgetown.
Salikram was struck down by the minibus around 06:00hrs along the East La Penitence public road.
According to police, the bus was speeding south along the eastern side of the road when Salikram decided to turn west and ended up its path.
As a result, the bus slammed into her causing her to fall violently onto the paved road. She reportedly sustained multiple injuries about her body.
An ambulance was called to take the woman to the hospital but a doctor with the emergency response team pronounced her dead at the scene.
The bus driver has since been arrested and is presently in custody assisting police with investigations.
