Dear Editor,
The headline boldly declares ‘serious crime down but rape cases doubled in 2021’ (SN Mar 12), with statistics to back the claim. The headline claim begs the question what constitutes a serious crime? Isn’t rape a serious, heinous crime?
It is quite alarming and a matter of concern the number of cases reported almost daily of this hateful and abhorrent act committed, particularly on underage children.
It is noted the story which follows the one above in the same publication tells about the number of domestic violence reports made last year. This is another serious and despicable crime.
