Kaieteur News – Eighteen-year-old Claudius James was on Monday remanded to prison for allegedly stabbing a 15-year-old boy in the chest.
James appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleges that on February 22, 2022, at Stabroek Market, Georgetown, with intent to commit murder, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded the teen.
The court heard that the accused, his brother, and the 15-year-old boy are known to each other and on the day in question, when they saw each other, a fight ensued owing to a previous issue which they had.
The fight resulted in the 15-year-old boy being stabbed in the region of the heart.
According to the injured teen’s mother, who was present in court, her son has a 2cm stab wound to the heart, lung issue and noted that he was still hospitalized.
The police prosecutor objected to bail being granted to james. As a result, Magistrate Isaacs-Marcus remanded James to prison. He is expected to return to Court on March 21, 2022.
