Kaieteur News – Jasmine Billingy took top honours in three age groups when the National Sports Commission (NSC) / Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Mashramani tournament served off on Republic Day at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).
At the Homestretch Avenue facility, the talented and diminutive Billingy copped the girls’ under-13, under-15 and under-19 titles with not much resistance from her opposition.
In the under-13 final, Billingy came up against Samara Sukhai whom she breezed past 3-0 in straight sets (311-5, 11-7 and 11-9). Billingy won her semifinal against Akira Watson in similar 3-0 fashion, while Sukhai trampled Shackey Damon 3-0 (11-2, 11-0 & 11-1) in her semifinal.
The under-15 and under-19 girls’ division were both contested in the round-robin format and both divisions finished with identical results with Billingy finishing on top. Sukhai was second and Akira Watson third, in both divisions.
Malachi Moore won the boys’ under-13 singles, while Colin Wong had little trouble getting past Ebo McNell 3-0 (11-5, 11-6 & 11-4) in the final.
The tournament continues tomorrow with the B Class Singles at the CASH.
