Dear Editor,
Kaieteur News – The letter “Bolsonaro persona non grata…” is interesting for several reasons, some of which have been ventilated.
I wish to add by noting that the signatories are “descendants of indigenous peoples…and captured Africans and concerned Guyanese of all ethnicities.” How come the largest block of Guyanese is lumped in “all ethnicities”?
Perhaps this attempt at invisibilising is a slip, but then it may be the continuation of a long project of colonial machinations, now powered by the inheritors of Macaulay’s “goodness”
“Coloniality” is a good word to understand such designs and J. Sai Deepak’s book (2021) may be a good start, both for the perpetrators and those of us not considered the inheritors.
Thank you.
