dominating 3-0 win against Georgetown powerhouses Fruta Conquerors Football Club (FCFC) during a quarterfinal double header at Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground in Linden.
Playing on Boxing Night in the ‘mining town’, the men from West Demerara were 3-0 up within the first half hour of the contest thanks to a brace from Keanu Laurence in the 26th and 28th minutes and the opening goal from Gideon Payne in the 16th minute.
Already with a comfortable lead, Coach Heywood decided to play it safe and successfully protected their comfortable lead and booked their semifinal sport on Thursday.
In the other match at the MSC on Sunday, powerhouses Guyana Defence Force (GDF) flexed their muscles to pull off an incredible come from behind 3-1 win against home side Milerock FC.
Denzel Fordyce’s 25th minute strike had Milerock flying high at the 45 minute break but the last 30 minutes belong to the GDF team that registered goals in the 68th minute (Sherwyn Caesar), 78th minute (Benjamin Opara) and 83rd minute (Caesar). Both goalscorers were second half substitutes.
