Kaieteur News – Barticians left the Bartica Community Centre Ground on a plateau on Sunday night last after the home team playing as All Stars walloped Essequibo All Stars when the Guyana Football Federation-Kashif and Shanghai Super 16 Cup continued in that community.

Watched by Regional Chairman Kenneth Williams, His Worship Mayor Gifford Marshall, GFF President Wayne Forde along with Bartica and Essequibo Association Presidents, Alden Marslow and Maxine Stewart, the biggest crowd at any of the venues to date in the competition added the extra impetus for the home players to take care of the business on the field.
The star and co-star of the evening were Andrew Simmons who blasted a hat-trick and Joshua Jones who netted a brace to see their opponents off.

Simmons was particularly lethal upfront as the lads from the Cinderella County found it very challenging to contain him; his speed and evasiveness as well as his ability to shoot the ball fiercely created problems for the visitors.Essequibo looked their best in the first 20 minutes but as the home team warmed up to the challenge; and with the fans fully behind them, it was clear that once they broke the deadlock, it would have been a tough task for Essequibo to contain them.
That’s exactly how the script played out. Simmons ripped the back of the nets in the 24th minute and doubled the advantage in the 32nd minute, both being well directed shots. There was some respite for the visitors at the half time break but once the Referee’s whistle sounded for the restart of play, the home team showed no letting up as the rampage continued.

Young Joshua Jones increased the advantage to 3-0 with another well crafted goal as he inked his name on the score sheet. Simmons completed his hat-trick with a ripping shot that sailed into the back of the nets in the 75th minute.
The solid win for Bartica was completed two minutes later when Jones recorded his second of the night to cap a fantastic day at the office for the home team. Fans are in for another potential treat come Christmas Night, December 25th when City side Western Tigers travel to take on the host with a semifinal spot on the line.
