Dear Editor,
Kaieteur News – If you are a resident of the Uitvlugt, Zeelugt and Tuschen New Schemes you know of the state of the roads. To say that they are bad would be a major understatement. The roads are so deplorable that they have become craters with pools of water that can drown a small child.
To be clear I am not talking about the main access roads but the individual streets when you turn off the main access roads.
Driving through these streets are a total nightmare. You are sure to damage something on your car with every journey. Imagine traversing those roads daily. Children have to use these roads everyday to get to and from school and walkways are nonexistent. Think of the trials the old, the sick and the pregnant have to endure. How can a country have its citizens living like that is beyond comprehension.
The relevant authorities need to have these roads fixed immediately (and properly); anything less would be a severe injustice to the residents of those communities. The obvious question is why have the authorities been so slow to act?
Yours faithfully,
Avinash Persaud
