Dear Editor,
Kaieteur News – I am an Essequibian. I have three land cases pending in the Essequibo High Court for the last six years. My relationship with the judiciary goes back to my childhood days because I used to accompany my parents to the Essequibo High Court. I know that Judges are assigned to Essequibo on a rotation basis to do both criminal and civil cases.
However, I cannot recall Judge Jo Ann-Barlow, Judge Fidela Corbin – Lincoln and Judge Damon Younge ever presiding in any civil cases at Essequibo High Court. As a woman, I am proud of these Judges. I would like to see them doing civil cases at the Essequibo High Court. Are these Judges being excluded for some reason? Someone should explain?
Sincerely
Maylene Samuels
