Kaieteur News – The Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) President Dwayne Scott met with the Honorable Minister of Culture Youth and Sport Charles Ramson Jr and other officials at the Ministry of Culture to discuss a long term Sport Academy Development Programme on Saturday 20th November, 2021.
Mr. Scott presented the Ready, Set, Goal Swim Programme which is a five (5) year developmental programme for swimmers ages fourteen (14) to nineteen (19), however, the association will accept swimmers at earlier age groups.
In wake of the newly erected Sport Academy Programme rolled out by the government, Minister Ramson is dedicated to athletes’ preparedness for international competitions. He has readily accepted GASA’s plan and shows willingness to garner resources for the organization.
Earlier in 2021, Minister Ramson announced the 1.5B budgeted for the development of sports, which will see local athletes benefiting from the Sport Academy Programmes that will catapult them to elite status in the professional arena.
