Kaieteur News – Rockaway Group of Companies have once again supported the development of sports in Guyana.
Chief Executive Officer of the entity, Hafeez Ali has delivered on his promise. Ali had previously donated a quantity of cricket equipment to the club and he had pledged to assist the organization with cricket uniforms.
On Thursday last, Ali made good on his promise as he presented 20 uniforms and hats to the club at a simple ceremony held at LBI cricket ground.
Ali urged the youths to take sports seriously and at the same time focus on their education. He recalled his playing days when cricket gears were hard to obtain and said he is happy to lend support.
Ali, who owns the Rockaway Legends team and also plays for Everest Masters, has further pledged to donate a bat and a pair of cricket boots to two younger members of the club.
Ali’s love for cricket is his main reason for him giving back to the youths and he wants to see more players going on to don the maroon colours.
Chairman of the LBI facility, Anil Beharry, expressed gratitude to Ali for his continued support of sports locally and told the senior members of the club to focus on preparing their youths for the upcoming season.
The Club Captain/Secretary Richard Dowlatram thanked Ali and said the gesture will serve to motivate the youths who he said are talented.
