GSCL Inc Prime Minister’s T20 Cup 5…

Regal and Ariel have set up an intriguing final in the open category following hard fought victories in their respective semi finals when the Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc Prime Minister’s T20 Cup 5 continued yesterday.
Regal Legends, Wellman, Ariel Masters and Fisherman have also booked their places in the finals in their respective categories.
At Eve Leary, Regal defeated Speedboat by 27 runs in their open semi final encounter. Batting first, Regal posted 194-7. Sachin Singh scored 44, Sewchand Budhu 35, Chien Gittens 26, Richard Latif 23 and Patrick Rooplall 20. Greg Singh took 2-27 and Davendra Mohan 2-34.
Speedboat replied with 167 all out in 19 overs. Singh made 31, Kishore Smith 26, Safraz Karim 24 and Ameer Khan 20. Sewchand Budhu captured 4-26 and Kelvin Orford 3-33.
At DCC, Ariel beat Name Brand by three wickets in the next semi final. Name Brand took first strike and were bowled out for 92 in 17 overs. Balram Samaroo made 24 not out, while Sasenarine Sukhu and Joshua Sampson got 21 each. Quentin Sampson claimed 3-10 and Dianand Singh 3-14.
Ariel replied with 93-7 in 7.3 overs. Shauz Grovesnor scored 25 not out, Fernandes made 24 and David Lukenauth 22.Sampson had 3-27 and Ramnarine Jugister 2-13.
In the Masters segment defending champions Fisherman beat New York Doctors by eight wickets at Lilliendaal.
NY Doctors made 93 all out in 17 overs, batting first. Asif Ali scored 27 as Stanley Mohabir picked up 3-12, Govanand Hemraj 2-12, Zakie Salim 2-23 and Dubraj Singh 2-25.
Fisherman Masters replied with 96-2 in 14.4 overs. Ramo Malone led with 32 not out while Bhim George contributed an unbeaten 27.
At GDF, Ariel Masters overcame Regal Masters by nine wickets. Regal Masters took first strike and were sent packing for 85 in 16.5 overs. Mohendra Arjune scored 28 and Khemchand Dindyal 16. S. Lakhan grabbed 4-9 and Sheldon Perch 3-18.
Ariel replied with 90-1 in 10.3 overs. Keith Fraser struck 70 not out with four fours and six sixes.
In the Legends category, Wellman beat Orlando by six wickets at GDF. Orlando Legends managed 142-3, batting first. D. Sankar top scored with 35 not out, S. Veerasammy got 34 not out and K. Tribene 25. Wayne Jones took 2-25. Wellman responded with 143-4 in 18 overs. Lloyd Ruplall slammed an unbeaten 58 while Hardat Heeranandan stroked 57. Tom Bacchus took 2-20.
Regal Legends got a walk over from Rockaway in the next semi final.
In the final preliminary round games in the open division at Eve Leary, Regal beat Airport by 209 runs. Regal batted first and piled up 279-5. Chien Gittens struck 13 fours and five sixes in an unbeaten 109 while Sachin Singh made 71 with three fours and nine sixes and Patrick Rooplall 32. Riaz Esau took 2-58.
Airport were bowled out for 70 in 12.1 overs in reply. Richard Latif bagged 5-13.
Ariel defeated Name Brand by 132 runs.
Ariel took first strike and managed 285-9. Quentin Sampson struck three fours and 16 sixes in a robust 126 while Shauz Grovesnor made 60 with five fours and five sixes.
Mahendra Singh claimed 3-44, while Joshua Sampson and Joshua Diaram had 2-50 each.
Name Brand made 153-9 in reply. J. Diaram scored 34 and R. Judistir 33. Jonathan Fernandes captured 4-19 and Chandreshekar Arjune 3-32.
At DCC, Speedboat beat Success by eight wickets.
Success took first knock and made 120 all out. Troy Drakes made 37 and Kumar Bishundial 25. Kishore Smith grabbed 5-12 and Safraz Esau 4-30.
Speedboat replied with 121- 2 in 11 overs. Greg Singh made 69 and Navin Singh 24.
In the Legends segment at Lilliendaal, Regal beat Floodlights by 10 wickets. Floodlights made 84-8, taking first strike. Regal responded with 87 without loss. Rudolph Baker made 42 and Unnis Yusuf 38.
In other matches, Wellman beat NY Hustlers, Orlando defeated NYSCL Legends and Rockaway overcame Carpet Doctors.
The competition concludes today at the National Stadium.
