Kaieteur News – Local beverage giants Banks DIH Limited have signed on as the beverage sponsor for the 19th Edition of the South American 10 KM Classic Road Race billed for next Sunday November 21st and organized by the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG).
Banks DIH through its Rainforest Waters and Powerade Brands will ensure that athletes and officials are hydrated during and after the event which is expected to attract runners from Guyana, South America and the Caribbean.
During a simple ceremony at Thirst Park on Thursday, Colin King – Water Beverages Brand Manager, made the presentation of the sponsorship cheque to Aubrey Hudson, President of the AAG.
Hudson expressed gratitude to Banks DIH for its continued support of the annual Classic. According to Hudson, the 10Km race is specially organized for Runners from within South America and the Caribbean, and is approved by the IAAF and South American Athletics Confederation (CONSUDATLE).
The race will start on at 15:30 hours on Carifesta Avenue close to GTT Earth Station and will proceed to along the East Coast Highway and return to finish in the National Park.
The top finishers in the senior male and female categories will secure a winner’s prize of US$1000 with second place claiming US$600 and third US$400 along with trophies. Prizes will also be given in the Junior and Masters divisions.
