– achieves 10 subjects at CSEC

Kaieteur News – Top National Junior Cyclist Mario Washington of Corriverton, Corentyne Berbice has been outstanding both on his cycle and in the classroom and for his exploits, he was recently rewarded.
Rewarding the youngsters was overseas based Businessman and former National cyclist, Franco Crawford, owner of Crawford Trucking Service. Washington, a member of the Flying Ace Cycling Club (FACC) of Berbice has been in excellent form during the past year on his bike and is touted as the junior to beat at the moment.
Apart from his exploits on his bike, the 17 year-old Washington copped 10 subjects at the recent CSEC examinations; two grade ones, three grade twos and five grade threes; enforcing the notion that education and sports can go hand in hand.
Washington has been one of the outstanding cyclists at the last the National School Cycling Championships. He was looking forward to continue his domination but this was not possible as the activity was called off due to the covid-19 pandemic.
Crawford has been showing his benevolence in tangible ways to his colleagues and others at home. Speaking at the simple ceremony which was held at Crawford business entity, Tucber Park, New Amsterdam, Berbice, he stated that he is impressed with the attitude and traits of Washington and after seeing him ride again recently, he decided to do something for the young athlete.
Also pitching in a reward was Cyril Hunte, brother of former national champion rider Neville Hunte and member of the Core Team, USA. Washington was full of praise for the donors as he thanked God, his parents his Coach, Randolph Roberts, Crawford, Hunte and all who have invested in him so far.
The teenager has promised to continue to put his best foot forward and not to disappoint. He is also the Vice Captain of the FACC. Coach Roberts was also high in praise for the donors and Washington and called on others to come forward and assist the club and other youths in an effort to keep them meaningfully occupied and away from illicit activities.
