Dear Editor,
Kaieteur news – Teachers and parents would like to know if it’s too much for the Ministry of Education to sanitise the schools in situations where there are positive COVID-19 cases.
There was such a case at the New Diamond/Grove Primary School (a teacher had tested positive for COVID-19) and the Headteacher thought it best to carry on school as normal, without informing the staff that one of their colleagues had tested positive and without doing any contact tracing. According to the Headteacher, it is no longer the policy of the Ministry of Education (Region 4) to close or sanitise schools when COVID-19 cases are reported. Could this be right? Is this how the authorities show concern for the safety and well-being of students and teachers in face-to-face classrooms during this pandemic?
