Dear Editor,
While the off duty firewoman must be commended for her commitment to public duty. However this does not mean the GFS should turn a blind eye or ignore the breach of protocol allegedly committed by going-the- extra-mile, exuberant firewoman. To do so would mean condoning and making light of a glaring wrong.
Her actions can be described, though well intended, as reckless and aggravated a tenuous situation of a public entity, already beset by recent events, under further scrutiny.
It must be queried: was it right for the entity to have her work, recognising her work status as being unprepared? Further, what if she was injured?
The hue and cry would have been different.
