Kaieteur News – Excitement galore is highly anticipated today at Ashtonbee (Reservoir) where Mercenary and an All-Stars X1 will clash in a one-off match from 1:00pm.
This game is being organised by the Ontario Softball Cricket League (OSCL) to end the season which will coincide with their presentation and award ceremony after the match and a large number of Canada-based Guyanese cricketers will be on show.
According to president of the OSCL and Essequibian Ravin Babulall, the day is promised to be exciting since there will be other activities including Kiddies games at the same facility.
Babulall also informed that the All-Stars fixture should be fascinating as well. Mercenary came out victorious in the recently concluded OSCL’s 20-overs tournament beating Canadian Legends while they carted off the prize for being the top team at the conclusion of the season with the most points.
This is another opportunity for them to showcase their brilliant talent and their winning combination. The All-Stars side is made of players who would have represented various teams that participated in the competition as well.
Councillor Michael Thompson for the City Area of East Toronto is expected to grace the occasion, according to Babulall.
Mercenary had a plethora of seasoned campaigners in their lineup. Some names are Avinash Sookdeo, skipper Looknauth Ramsichit, Sunil Ramkissoon, Avish Rukhram, Bobby Parasnauth, Yadram Bogh and Richard Dias among others. These players will be on show again.
The leader stated that the encounter will be 20-overs per-a-side and prizes are also up for grabs. The OSCL’s All-Stars team will be captained by Troy Gobin and he will have Devon Ramnauth, Rakesh Ramotar, Reyaz Prahalad, Wasim Parsram, Kelvin Shivrattan, Vic Mangal, Mike Kadir, Amit Arjune, Harrienarine Chattergoon, Zakir Khan, Daven Parsram, Rishi Samuel and Akaash Pala.
