Dear Editor,
I heard a rattle at my gate. I looked through the window and saw the meter reader.
Me: (Opening the gate for him to enter) Have you been vaccinated my friend?
Him: (Backing up a bit) No, not yet. Tomorrow. They have the vaccination drive at work and if I don’t take it, I can’t go to work the next day. I don’t really want to take it, but I got kids. I need this work to feed them.
It is so sad that another human being has to go against his own conscience to be able to feed his family. He’s not the first and he will not be the last. But these are telling signs of the times we live in and are heading to.
Countryman or woman you may be reading this and in the same position as the meter reader above. I want to encourage you to do what is best for you and your family. If you feel forced, I am sorry, but if you are like me, inspired word will offer re-assurance and help you to navigate these uncertain times.
To the authority, to the vaccinated, don’t force the apprehensive. Try and understand their positions and if they say no, respect that.
Respectfully,
Stephen Craig, Jr.
