Kaieteur News – The Ministry of Health (MoH) in its COVID-19 Report on August 28 announced that an 81-year-old male from Region Three (Essequibo Islands -West Demerara) who had tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus has passed away on Saturday while receiving care at a medical facility. His demise takes the death toll for the period March 2020 to August 28, 2021 to 610.
One hundred and eighty newly infected cases were recorded within the past 24 hours taking the total confirmed cases to 25,147. The new cases were logged in Region Two (10 cases); Region Three (39 cases), Region Four (109 cases), Region Five (5 cases), Region Six (7 cases), Region Seven (6 cases), Region Eight (2 cases), Regions Nine and Ten (1 case each). There were no new cases chronicled in Region One.
There are 28 patients in the COVID-19 ICU at the Infectious Diseases Hospital; 9 persons in institutional quarantine; 104 individuals are in institutional isolation and a total of 1,576 persons in home isolation.
To date, approximately 22,829 persons have recovered from the deadly disease.
