Dear Editor
As many Guyanese living in Guyana and overseas knows the Guyana State Media in the form of Guyana Chronicle and NCN kowtow to the Government of the day as they tend to propagate the Government’s point of view while lambasting the Opposition. This needs to change which can only happen via privatisation.
Privatisation of State Media is imperative if Guyana is to truly realise its goal of more Media freedom, which can then hold the Government of the day, the Opposition and all other stakeholders accountable.
Governments should not be frightened by constructive criticism. They should look upon constructive criticism as an opportunity to improve their performance. A free and impartial media plays an important role in sustaining Democracy.
Yours truly,
Sean Ori
