Kaieteur News – Canada-based Guyanese Imtiaz Ali hit an enterprising 102 to spur Renegades to a thrilling 13-run victory in one of the latest matches in the 2021 Ontario Round-Arm Softball Cricket Association Regular Season 20-over competition recently.
The right-handed Ali cracked 14 sixes and two fours as his team gathered up a respectable 192-4 at the expiration of the 20-overs while Smashers, in reply, were left at 179-8 when the overs ran out.
Zaheer Allard and Sheik Khan supported the flamboyant Ali with 31 and 26 respectively. Deodat Gopie grabbed two wickets for 38 runs from three overs.
In Smashers’ chase, Dinesh Ramkissoon led the fight with 48, while contributions came from Gopie who made 32, Krishna Gopie 28 and 25 from Amzad Hassan. Roopchand Latchman collected three wickets for 37 runs from his allotted four overs while Ali proved his all-round capability by snatching two wickets for 25 in his four-over outing.
