Kaieteur News – The Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) will be sending a four-member team to the American Boxing Confederation (AMBC) Elite Championship in Colombia that is scheduled to punch off on September 25 and conclude on October 4, this year.
The announcement was made yesterday afternoon by President of the GBA, Steve Ninvalle, via a release to the media. The team Coach is Terrence Poole M.S. and will also include Caribbean Champion Keevin Allicock, who competed in the Tokyo Olympics, and he will be in the Featherweight division.
Meanwhile, Colin Lewis will box in the Light Welterweight division and Desmond Amsterdam in the Middleweight category to complete the team. Ninvalle, who is also Director of Sports, in the correspondence detailed that, “The Elite Championship gives us another chance to not only expose our boxers, two of whom have not fought since 2019 when it was the Caribbean Championship, but it also gives us a chance to gauge where we are within Latin America and the Americas.”
“So this is a very important championship for us. Guyana has been at most of the AMBC championships in the past and this year would be no different.”
