Kaieteur News – A pedestrian was killed by a speeding driver on the Better Hope Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Monday.
A police report revealed yesterday that on Monday at 20:20hrs, motorcar PZZ 9593 driven by 23-year-old Dharmendra Parmanand of Lot 205 Thomas Street, Kitty, Georgetown was proceeding east on the northern driving lane at a fast rate of speed when he collided into the pedestrian who was walking from the north to the south into the same path of the motorcar.
The pedestrian received multiply injuries about his body. The pedestrian was picked up by members of the Guyana Police Force in an unconscious state and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body of the deceased is presently lying at the Georgetown Public Hospital mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination. A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver of the motorcar but no trace of alcohol was found. The driver is currently in custody assisting with the investigations into the death of the pedestrian.
