Winners show off their hardware, while GBTI and Tennis Officials share the moment at the closing Ceremony of the GBTI Open.
Kaieteur News – Monday afternoon, the Curtains came down on the highly contested GBTI Open Tennis tournament for 2021. The competition, which lasted just over two weeks, climaxed with a presentation ceremony in the Banking Hall of the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry and was attended by senior bank officials, Guyana Tennis Association executives, players and coaches.
In her remarks to the audience, Mrs. Pamela Binda Pryce congratulated all participants of the tournament and encouraged players to continue working hard to achieve better results on and off the courts. Binda- Pryce also reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to the development of tennis and to continue partnership with the GTA which has been in existence for over two decades.
Delivering remarks for the Guyana Tennis Association, Past President and current treasurer, Mr. Ramesh Seebaran lauded the GBTI for years of being a good corporate institution and commended the bank for always supporting the tennis fraternity.
Surrendra Khayyam, Vice President of the Guyana Tennis Association chaired the ceremony and also echoed Seabream’s sentiments of gratitude to the GBTI.
The 2021 GBTI Open saw entrants from Guyana, Mexico and England participating in fierce rivalry throughout the tournament. At the end of two plus weeks of battle, Guyanese Cristy Campbell and Mexican Miguel Garcia were crowned champions in the coveted Open Singles female and male categories. Viraj Sharma and Renola Jordan are the Junior male and female champions.
