Kaieteur News – A Chinese businesswoman was allegedly robbed yesterday by two males, one who was armed with a gun. A press release revealed that two men allegedly robbed a 37-year-old Chinese businesswoman, Monday in central Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
Information given was that the woman operates a supermarket and was at the counter attending to customers as normal when two men entered, one armed with a silver handgun. The suspect pointed the gun at the woman demanding that she hand over all of the money in the canister.
The woman who was fearful for her life ran out quickly from behind the counter further into the supermarket. The suspect then briskly went behind the counter and collected the canister with all the cash.
Kaieteur News was made to understand that $30,000 in cash and an undisclosed amount of Digicel and GTT phone cards were stolen. The other suspect who was outside ran into the yard of the business place where he saw a policeman who was sitting in his chair and told him to lie on the floor in front of the supermarket.
After, the suspects then made their escape on foot. The entire scene was captured on the CCTV cameras affixed on the supermarket. The area was searched for the two suspects but neither was located. Investigations are ongoing.
