Kaieteur News – In picture perfect conditions in sweltering heat on Friday and Saturday at the GBTI Tennis Court in Diamond the Rebel Tennis Club held its first tournament and after two days Norella Jordon advanced to the semi-final of the Girls U16 division.
In a tournament played without spectators because of the Covid-19 restrictions, Niomi Erskine defeated her cousin Kimora Erskine 5-3, 4-1 on round robin play in the Girls U12 division.
In the Boys U12s, Nathan DeNobrega defeated Jonathan Jordan 4-2, 4-0, while Elwin Levius defeated Jordan 4-1,4-1.
In the Girls 14s Norella Jordan defeated Malia Maikoo 4-0, 4-0, while Renola Jordan defeated M. Maikoo 4-0, 4-0 and Renola Jordan defeated Norella Jordan 4-0,4-1.
In the Boys 14s Gerald Scotland defeated N. Arjune 4-0,4-1, N. Arjune defeated Elwin Levius 0-4,4-2, 10-7, Gerald Scotland got better of Elwin Levius 4-2,4-2, Denzel Luthers beat Isaiah Cambridge 2-4,4-2,10-6, Ricky Romescindo got past Denzil Luthers 4-1, 2-4, 11-9, Isaiah Cambridge defeated Ricky Romescindo 4-2,4-1 and R. Romescindo triumphed against Nathan DeNobrega 4-0, 5-3.
Girls U16s, Norella Jordan defeated Devanie Arjune 7-5, 6-0 in quarter finals play, while in the Boys U18s, G. Scotland defeated S. Murray 7-5, 6-1 and Donnie Anderson defeated Isaiah Cambridge 6-4,7-5 in quarter finals play.
The tournament was scheduled continue yesterday, resumes on Friday and Saturday while concluding next week Sunday. (Sean Devers)
